What's your definition of home?
Submitted by NayNay72
for me, home is wherever you feel like you belong. that belonging fosters a sense of nurturing. this can be engendered by friends, family, the way the city or town speaks to you...
if thinking about this place makes you smile, it's your home.
it could mean that you're not living in your home. i actually caught myself the other day calling germany my home, even though i've been back in the bay area for a year now. odd, eh? but not really, i guess.
here are pictures of the only two places i've ever truly felt at home: tübingen, germany, and chicago, illinois.
and i dug up a picture of the yarn boutique. when i last visited, it had disappeared and turned into something else, so i hope the nice lady (forgot her name) retired back to finland (i think that's what she had said she planned? i don't remember, i could just be projecting) and is enjoying not trying to teach a left-hander to knit!
[how coinky-dinky that this would be the QotD after my previous post...]
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Why?

hrmph i was going to submit this question yesterday night, but i see someone has already beaten me to the punch. (i submitted "what is your morning routine?" instead.)
if i could live anywhere in the world, hmm. well, i guess the "correct" answer would be "with my chaddy back home in california". :) which is most definitely true, especially now that i've been away from him for over a year. i can't wait to return to "normal life"! to sleep in the same bed, snuggle up...*sigh* i miss my chad-maru!
but i digress. let's say chaddy would be willing to move anywhere. my first choice (as of today*) would be berlin. i love that city. there's so much history there, great architecture, and...and...and it's a big city with wonderful public transportation (always a bonus). lots of big open spaces, a great vibe...
if i had to limit my choices to the US, though, i'd choose chicago (boystown/lakeview) hands down. i lived there for five years (four for school and one for work) and consider that to be an adopted hometown. again, big city, great public transportation, but i also love the food, the four distinct seasons (except for that in-between period between winter and spring--blech), and the people. oh and the shopping. and the lake, and the "third coast" thing going on. ack i'm getting nostalgic!
