this past summer danielle, michael, georgiana, and i went to malaga, spain, to attend the 18th European Summer School in Logic, Language, and Information, and it was so much fun. sure, i was complaining about the >100 degree heat and some classes were as boring as all get out, but damn it was a great time. (this is us walking back to the dorms from the main event building.)

the food, the dorm, the community atmosphere (especially at "the tapas place at the corner")...very cool. not to mention the great weekend getaways to seville and nerja and well, being on vacation. the thing that made it different from my other vacas around europe is that i was there with other people. i don't mind traveling by myself, and i really enjoy exploring cities and cultures by myself, but it's a lot more fun with travel partners.

i think another thing that makes it a happy memory is that it was summer. and even though it's 50 and raining outside (=definitely not winter), i miss wearing shorts :(

that's in front of the curling venue. and yes, i do quite enjoy curling. is that so wrong? (in fact, that was the only reason i went there in the first place, just to see a curling match, but i also saw speed skating.)
